Welcome
Dear Reader,
I would invite you to come on my journey as I quit smoking. Here I will share with you how I'm going to quit smoking and tips to quit smoking. I will be posting daily for the seeable future because I want this to be my diary, but an online diary. As I work to free myself from the addiction, which I'm no stranger to, I will be talking mostly about how I feel daily, and much much more. I've been trying to quit for over 5 years now and realized that nothing has worked. So let me just say this: I am ABSOLUTELY ready this time, and I would love for you to join me in my fight, so I don't have to do this alone.
I know many people like I've been trying to quit for a while, and I'm going to make quitting fun for myself and I want to share this with you. I think if I make quitting fun, I will definitely want to quit smoking. On top of this, I will be using 2 apps to quit during this time. One, I'm enrolled in a 10-week smoking Cessation program provided by the Government of Ontario called Quit Smoking with STOP on the web. The program was designed by CAMH (Center for Addiction and Mental Health). This is a 10-week Smoking Cessation program, and you have to be willing to quit within 1 month of signing up, and being approved for the program. About a week ago I signed up for the program and I am waiting for my FREE 10 week supply of quit gear. My quit date is in a week so now it's almost time.
I do want to let you know that in no way, shape or form am I affiliated with CAMH and the Stop Smoking Program just mentioned. Nor, am I affiliated with the second App that I'm going to tell you about.
Last but not least, I'm going to use the app called Smoke Free - Quit Smoking Now. This App you can Find in the Android App Store and the App Store for Iproducts like laptop etc. I highly recommend the app because over 1million people have used the app to quit smoking. I even used it to quit smoking for 5 days. The reason why, I went back was because I wasn't even ready to quit at that time.
You're probably asking yourselves, Why do you want to quit now? Are you even ready this time? Why do you think the Smoke free app will work this time around? How do you think these apps will provide you with any support? Well, those are really great questions. I'm going to be very honest with you right now, that way I can be honest with myself; in the present moment.
I'm ready to quit now because, I'm tired of smelling like smoke, it doesn't taste good anymore, I'm getting sick because of it and there are many health benefit associated with quitting that I want to enjoy, and I'm ready to reap the benefits of a smoke free life. To be honest with you, I don't know if the app is going to work for me. The last time I used the app, I was inconsistent with using the app. I totally ignored the apps notifications and that led to a downward spiral back into smoking. I know the app works because a lot of people have quit using it, I wasn't lucky because I was inconsistent with it. I mean I don't know truly how they will provide support but they do have some fun elements to them that I want to use for sure.
On top of this I will be doing a series of games to help me quit smoking. Games like non-smoking bingo and a scavenger hunt, and yes, these will be posted for you to enjoy too. Tomorrow is pre-quitday-1 and I'm so proud of myself for getting this far, and I hope this blog will be a help for you too. Thank you so much for joining me through this journey towards a healthier life.
XOXO,
Deejaegh
